Vaccine Protocols

We are 100% pro vaccines and quality veterinary care.

Before leaving, your puppy receive their 1st DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Parainfluenza).  They will also have been dewormed at the ages of 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks.

At your puppies first veterinary appointment, your puppy should be examined and the veterinarian should discuss their vaccine protocols with you. The area you live in may change the recommended vaccines.  We 100% recommend all core vaccines. We recommend you talk to your veterinarian about non core vaccines, such as bordatella, canine influenza, lepto, coronavirus, and Lyme disease.  Some grooming salons or boarding facilities may require vaccine beyond the core set, so please ask facilities you plan to use for specific information regarding what they require.

You should also begin your heart worm preventative at the first veterinary visit.  There are several brands, many of which will combine heartworm preventive with fleas, tick, and parasite control.  If you prefer a specific brand, and the facility does not carry it, they can write you a prescription for a pharmacy that does.  We do not recommend using any veterinarian that refuses to write prescriptions for products they do not carry.
