American Hairless Terrier Breed History

Although the American Hairless Terrier is newer to The American Kennel Club (officially accepted in 2016), the first puppy was both in 1972.  There was 1 hairless puppy born in a litter of fully coated Rat Terriers. The mother of this litter was named Josephine, and the little hairless puppy was called Gypsy.  Josephine went on to produce 2 more hairless puppies named Snoopy and Jemima later in life.  This was the beginning of a great new breed!  Those 2 puppies went on to produce several hairless in their litters.
